Margaret (Peg) Pettit Wilson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 28, 2025.
Peg Wilson passed away on May 31, 2025 of congestive heart failure; since she appeared to be a miracle of modern medicine, it is suspected that she passed away out of spite at death's continued requests for engagement.

Peg spent most of her youth in Lone Pine, PA. Here she learned to read and immediately became a human encyclopedia, excelled academically, was a proud French horn player in the Trinity High School band, and garnered a trip to Germany in her high school years. After graduating from Wilson College (an odd bit of foreshadowing), Peg and a friend rode their motorcycles across the country, settling in Los Angeles. In her twenties, she mastered the electric guitar, obtained her pilot's license, passed her jr. bar exam, started her own company, and swore she once drag raced Charlton Heston at a stop light (and won).

In her thirties, she returned to PA, married Robert K. Wilson and gave birth to a daughter, Betsey Wilson, into whom she poured all of her love and unyielding insistence upon correct grammar.

In 2005, Peg and Betsey moved to Troy, TX where she enjoyed cruising around in her Mustang Cobra and crushing native Texans at skeet shooting.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ron and Betty Pettit of Lone Pine, PA, her brother, Ronald Pettit Jr., of Memphis, TN and her sister, Nancy Livingston, of Ironton, OH.

She is also preceded by a menagerie of livestock and pets that she cared for over the years. (All of which, her family assures you, are currently vying for human food at her feet.)

She has left behind a large family of loved ones including: Her daughter, Betsey of Houston, TX, and her husband, Rob of Lone Pine, PA.

Surviving siblings are her older sister Judith Juergens of Weston, MO, her younger brother Robert Pettit (Jean) of Missoula, MT, and her youngest sister Susan Owens of Troy, TX.

She is also survived by her stepdaughter Jessica Clausner (Brent) and grandson Drake of Trafford, PA.

Beyond those listed here, Peg was beloved by a cadre of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and other extended family that are entirely too numerous to name.

Her ashes will be interred at West Union Cemetery on August 2, 2025 at 1:30 pm, followed by a celebration of life at The Gathering Place on Route 40 at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the ASPCA in her name, so that enough money can be raised in a concerted effort to stop those heart-wrenching commercials from being shown on TV, because she could not stand them.
