Margaret Ploss Obituary

Margaret Ann Marabella Ploss
01/22/1944 - 03/28/2025
Margaret "Mammy" Ploss, a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed peacefully into Heaven on March 28, 2025, surrounded by her friends and family. Throughout her lengthy illness, she was surrounded by the unwavering support and prayers of those who held her dear.
Mammy was born on January 22, 1944, in Galveston, TX. She brought joy and happiness wherever she went, never meeting a stranger. She was a devout Catholic who lived a deeply spiritual life, inspiring all who knew her with her unwavering faith. Alongside her husband, Jack "Pappy" Ploss, she was also a dedicated member of Dominion Church in League City.
Mammy and Pappy married in 1977 in Galveston, Texas, and together they worked tirelessly at Ploss Industries in Texas City for over 50 years. Throughout their marriage, they traveled the world, often accompanied by family and friends, visiting casinos and enjoying time together. Mammy was famous for hosting memorable parties, holiday gatherings, and cooking her famous spaghetti at their League City home, where she found her greatest joy - being surrounded by her beloved family.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jack Ploss, and her children, Ansel Ploss and wife, Mindy, Greg Ploss and Chris Rylant, Michael Patterson and wife, Wendy, and Nancy Patterson and Tammie Canale. Her cherished grandchildren include Joshua and Ayvrie Dixon, Adam and Sharon Dixon, Jack and Jennifer Ploss, Christopher and Nicole Ploss, Heather Hipp, Jonathan Patterson, Jessica and Chase Nelson, Taylor and Austin Ezel, and Garrett Ybarra. Great-grandchildren include Mason and Colton Dixon, Adeline, Liam, and Aiden Hipp, and Stryker, Violet, and Ezra Ploss.
Mammy is also survived by her brother, Frank Marabella, and wife, Billie Joyce, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmello and Jerome Marabella, her sister, Annie Rehm, and her daughter-in-law, Gina Ploss.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Claude and Sherry Wray, Michael and Mona Landers, Tommy and Linda Keyworth, Kelvin Jones, Dee Lott, the UTMB hospital staff, and the caregivers at The Faith Bridge Caregivers in League City, TX, for their unwavering support and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to one of Mammy's cherished places of worship: Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 10114 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX 77563, (409) 925-3579, www.ololchurch.org or Dominion Church Assembly of God, 6400 Calder Drive, Dickinson, TX 77539, (281) 337-0037, www.dominionchurch.org.

I had the honor and privilege to be able to meet "Miss Margaret" as she was our landlord at our facility in La Marque. I was so grateful to have the chance to get to know her and Mr. Jack. I knew immediately that she would be someone who I would grow to care for... although I didn´t know how much, in such a short time, she would mean to me. Ever so kind, ever so generous, she and Mr. Jack represented what I hope to become as a parent, grandparent and business person. I loved hearing how much she loved her family, and loved celebrating them. I know the Ploss family doesn´t really know much about me, but I feel like I know about them through her. I´m heartbroken that I won´t be able to see her smile or hear her beam with pride and joy as she tells me about her family. Please accept my most sincere condolences in the loss of your mother, grandmother, and many other roles that she filled for her family.
