It is with great sadness that we note the passing of our beloved Aunt, Margaret A. Reehil. Born on November 4th, 1933 in Queens Village New York, she was the daughter of John and Ruth Reehil (Stahl). Margaret is the last surviving sibling of the Reehil family and is predeceased by her 5 brothers and sisters: Antoinette Mulcahy, Peter Reehil, MaryJane Fay, her identical twin sister, Ann Reehil, and Paul Reehil.

A graduate of Bishop McDonnell high school in Brooklyn NY, Margaret became a postulant at the Order of the Good Shepherd in Wheeling, West Virginia. It was here she graduated from Wheeling Jesuit College and spent the next 25+ years with the Order of the Good Shepherd in Wheeling and North Miami, Florida.

Margaret spent these years in service to the citizens of Appalachia providing education, healthcare, spiritual services, along with a host of other needs. During the 1960's she proudly assisted in carrying out President Johnson's war on poverty, advocating for the marginalized and comforting the weary. Always seeking to lighten the burden of those less fortunate as a nun or an educator, she was a beacon for those in need.

After she left the Order in the mid 1970's, Margaret spent the next 20+ years as a teacher and social worker in the Dade County Florida Public Schools.

Our Aunt Margaret had a quick wit and a warmth, that touched us all. And she usually was first in line for fun! She watched 20 nieces and nephews grow up, and we all knew the party started when Aunt Margaret arrived. Usually laden with goodies that came with special occasions, including the forbidden fruits of our childhoods…soda and candy. Aunt Margaret never missed a wedding, B'nai Mitzvah, or a 4th of July party. She was a cherished sister, aunt and friend to many. Her passing leaves a void, but her spirit remains present to all who loved her.

She will be missed, and remembered always.

A Funeral Mass in celebration of her life will be held in November, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; details will be shared once arrangements are finalized.
