Margaret Ann "Marge" Regan

Margaret Ann Regan, 88, of Scranton, died Sunday at Holy Family Residence. Her husband of 53 years, John E. Regan, preceded her in death in 2005.

Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret Timlin McAndrew. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, she was a long time member of Immaculate Conception Church and St. Peter's Cathedral.

Marge dedicated her life to raising her large and growing family. Her nine children and eventually 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. She was dedicated to her church and community. She was a long time, dedicated and active member of the Immaculate Conception Church and then to St. Peter's Cathedral later in life. She was one of the founding members of the Linden Street Neighborhood Association, which eventually grew to become the Hill Neighborhood Association. She looked forward to gatherings with friends and family and in particular looked forward to meetings of "The Club."

The family would like to thank Dr. Barry Minora, the Little Sisters of the Poor and all of the wonderful staff at Holy Family Residence who made Holy Family a great home for her during the past five years. They are an incredible group of people, who dedicate their lives to helping others. The way they treated Marge and her entire family during her stay with them is an example of how everyone would hope their loved one would be treated.

She is survived by nine children: John E. Regan Jr. and wife, Patti; Michael and wife, Chris; Robert and wife, Marisa; Peggy Regan-Rainey, Paul and wife, Lisa; Cliff and wife, Sandy; Billy and wife, Melissa; Mary Rose and husband, Leonard Carlucci; and Ellen; 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Maureen Balish and Kay Brundage; brothers and sisters in-law: Anne Marie Regan, Bob and wife, Pat Regan; Neil Regan and John Bosha; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois Salmon; a brother, James McAndrew; son in-law, Robert Rainey; brothers in-law, Will Brundage, Lt. Col. Donald Balish, Maurice Salmon, Donald and Frank Regan; and sisters-in-law, Eleanor Bosha and Mary Regan.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial in the Chapel on the second floor of Holy Family Residence, 2500 Adams Ave., Scranton. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

There will be a viewing Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Maloney Lounge at the residence.
