July 29, 1935- January 12, 2026

Margaret Ann (Marge) Rehill, 90, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Parkview Hospice in Fort Wayne, IN. Margaret was born in Decatur, IN on July 29,1935 to the late Aloysius and Marcella (Kuebler) Schmitt. On August 7, 1971, Margaret married Lawrence H. Rehill. They remained married until his death on August 7, 2018.

She was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur, IN.

Margaret received her Master's Degree in Education from Fordham University in New York. She taught for many decades and also served as an advocate for the mentally and physically disabled after retiring from teaching.

Margaret was an angel on earth and spent her life helping others; never asking for anything in return. She is fondly remembered by her family as "Sweet Pea" and "Zonky".

Margaret loved socializing with her friends and visiting with her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandson Liam and watching him grow.

For many years, she was a member of a singing group, the "Settlers", in Fort Wayne which brought her tremendous joy. She was a volunteer for many organizations including St. Vincent de Paul locally in Decatur.

Among survivors are her sons, James (Sondra) Rehill, Dennis (Katherine) Rehill and son, Liam; and a daughter, Margaret Mary Rehill.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Lawrence H. Rehill, her sister, Mary Francis Schmitt, and her parents, Aloysius and Marcella Schmitt.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026, in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father Jacob Runyon presiding. A reciting of the Holy Rosary will be held prior to Mass at 9:00 a.m. and visitation to follow from 9:20 – 10:00 a.m. in the St. Mary's Parish Hall.

Burial will immediately follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society or Masses.
