Margaret Elizabeth (Moser) Rigby, 100, passed away of natural causes Monday, December 12, 2022 at Logan Health-Conrad extended care.
Margaret was born on September 29, 1922 in Agawam, MT to Adolph and Johanna (Gemar) Moser. She was the youngest of 8 children. She attended school in Agawam and Choteau. Margaret was schooled with students one grade ahead of her as she was the only student her age.
Margaret married Willis B. Rigby Jr. on March 21, 1946 in Choteau and moved to the Rigby family farm 12 miles east of Conrad. Here she and Willis farmed and raised 5 children. Margaret was known for a huge garden, beautiful flowers, and made the best dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls ever! Margaret and Willis were very involved in 4-H, and she was honored for her years of service. She and Willis were also very involved at the First Presbyterian Church in Conrad. Margaret was a regular in the kitchen at church. She made the mashed potatoes and gravy for the Harvest Dinner, and her homemade noodles for her homemade beef noodle soup for Bazaar luncheons. Her dinner rolls were always requested for funeral luncheons. She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends, especially her friends in Agawam Club, Midway Club, and neighbors near the farm. Margaret and Willis also attended many of their grandchildren's activities. Together, they attended many concerts, sporting events, FFA banquets, and 4-H and school awards days supporting their grandchildren. They even traveled to see their adult grandchildren, bringing with her food to cook a meal, and dessert. When the grandchildren returned to college on holiday breaks, Margaret always had homemade soup, rolls, and cookies to take back with them.
Margaret loved farm life and raising her children on the farm. After 63 years of living on the family farm, she and Willis moved off the farm to the Horizon Lodge in October of 2009. Margaret enjoyed visiting with people at the Lodge, walking the halls to get in her daily walk, and always welcomed visitors. Later, Margaret moved to the Beehive, and finally to Extended Care.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Willis; her parents; her 7 siblings; her son, John; baby daughter, Nancy; sons-in-law; Clifford Buechler and Greg Goodheart; and daughters-in-law; Cheryl Rigby and Rita Johnson. She is survived by son, Bert Rigby of Conrad; daughters; Judy Buechler and Robin Goodheart of Billings, and Claudia Martin of Conrad; 10 grandchildren, Heather(Justin) Bleazard, Tammy(Barry) Rider, Wendy Goodheart, Casey(Jamie) Buechler, John(Kiley) Goodheart, Karli(Luke) Redd, Cooper(Wendy) Martin, and Kale(Megan) Martin, Jackie(Jason St. George) Johnson, and Sadie(Evan) Charpentier; 17 great grandchildren, Bailey and Beckum Bleazard, Gavin and Eli Buechler, Charlie and Sam Goodheart, Ria Redd, Porter and Avery Martin, Liam, Roslyn, Fynn, and Amelia Martin, Benson Johnson, Harrison St. George, and Fischer and Daisy Charpentier; numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends, Mary Ellen Brownell, and Dale Johnson.
"We have lost a loving and amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and best friend who will be truly missed by all. Thank you, Mom for letting us share our lives with you and being with you as you went on your final journey." As Margaret would always say to her children and grandchildren when they were traveling; "Call me when you get home."
Services will be held at later date.
