Margaret Scruggs Ryan, 84, passed away on March 6, 2025, in Warsaw, New York. Born on October 8, 1940, in Pickens, South Carolina she lived a life marked by dedication to her work, love for her family and friends, and an appreciation for the simple joys of life.
Margaret built a career that reflected her strong work ethic and commitment to helping others. She worked as an inspector at the Warsaw Mallory Timers Corp. before transitioning to Wyoming County Community Hospital where she served as a transport aide for over 20 years. Her time at the hospital allowed her to connect with many people in the community, offering kindness and support through her work.
Margaret found joy in games of chance and was known for her uncanny luck. She had a keen eye for handicapping horses and took great pleasure in watching sports, particularly cheering on the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Rays. Despite her love for these pastimes, she remained a private person who valued time spent with close friends and family above all else. She never wished to be a burden to anyone and always put others ahead of herself. She shared many cherished moments with her partner, Dan Moran.
Margaret was predeceased by Charles W. Ryan, with whom she had 3 loving children. John (Bridget) Ryan of Warsaw, N.Y., Russell (Susan) Ryan of Batavia, N.Y., Lisa (Mike) Chidsey of Bath, N.Y. Margaret was also a proud grandmother of Richard (Farren) Ryan, Johnna (Cameron) Ryan and Nathan Ryan and great-grandmother to Nora and Burkley Ryan. She was also predeceased by 3 brothers and 1 sister from the Greenville, South Carolina area. She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Hindman, of Clinton, S.C.
