Margaret Ann Sanders, affectionately known as "Susie," 76, of Hodges, wife of John Walter Sanders, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born on June 25, 1949, in Greenwood, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Edward Mitchell and Margie Yancey Mitchell.
Together with her husband, John , she co-owned Golf Cars of Greenwood, where they shared their passion for helping the community. Later, she continued to serve others while working at Jackson Hewitt Taxes, always approaching her job with her trademark warmth and dedication.
Family meant everything to Susie. She cherished every moment spent together, believing that a kitchen filled with the smell of her cooking was a kitchen filled with love. Whether it was shopping trips, beach vacations, or enjoying a refreshing margarita under the sun, she brought joy to every gathering. An avid South Carolina Gamecock fan, she never missed a chance to cheer her team on with her spirited enthusiasm.
Her deep faith shone brightly as a member of Sandridge Baptist Church, where she loved to sing and worship. Her loving, faithful, and caring nature left a profound impact on the lives of numerous friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, John, her daughter, Jennifer Cobb (Larry), her son, Jeff Smallwood, her stepson, Johnny Sanders, and stepdaughter, Amy Elizabeth Sanders. She also leaves behind her dear sister Janet M. Holley (Ricky) and sister Cindy Corley, as well as numerous grandchildren including Josh Boyd (Kimberly), Jessica Rowe (Blake Emert), Allice Smallwood (JD Eustace), Buck Cobb (Nikki), Jonathan Sanders (Amanda), Taylor Davis, Tanner Sanders, and her nine great-grandchildren. Also grieving her loss are her brother in heart, Ronald Burton, and special friends, Linda Baylor, Carolyn Blackwell, Mildred Reid, and Angela Shirley; along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
Susie is preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Ray Corley.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Reynolds officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646 (www.careofthepiedmont.org) or Sandridge Baptist Church, 301 Sandridge Church Road, Ninety Six, SC 29666.
