Margaret Lucille Schoeneck

Margaret Lucille Schoeneck, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed peacefully at her home on March 29th. She was born March 7, 1943, in Alexandria, Minnesota, to Ruth and Wallace Peterson. Margaret was known for various talents and passions throughout her life.

 

In her lifetime, Margaret wore many hats. She had diverse professional experiences but found joy in being a homemaker. She was a caring wife and tended to her family with unwavering dedication. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel included and loved.

 

Her creative spirit shone through as she authored a book titled Unveiling the Temple “Western Style" and developed an educational game,  "Command 10.”

 

She had an affinity for animals, filling her home with many beloved pets and applied that passion to grooming dogs and breeding show poodles.

 

Margaret also had an array of hobbies and interests that brought her immense joy. She showcased her style with quirky winter hats, fashionable eyeglasses, and unique jewelry. Margaret was an adventurous cook and baker; she was known for dishes like homemade chicken kiev and her award-winning Weed and Seed bread.

 

Her fearlessness extended beyond the kitchen as she openly expressed her religious and political views. She traveled across the country to attend conventions and marches in support of her beliefs; highlights included her trips to Israel and Washington DC. She embraced each day with courage and never shied away from speaking her mind or standing up for what she believed in.

 

Margaret's love for travel also took her to Hawaii, Florida, Texas, Colorado, South Carolina, and California where she created cherished memories that will be treasured forever. Closer to home, Margaret found solace in nature by enjoying walks in the woods, gardening, and watching and listening to the birds outside her window.

 

 

Margaret is survived by her husband Marlo, her daughters; Tamra Harpestad of Rochester, MN, Carole (Steven) Rickman of Tampa, FL, Kimberly (David) Dionne of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren; Kendra (Jeremy) Burget, Kolten (Carissa) Lukes, Kaden (Shontell) Lukes, Alexis (Salvatore) Scaffidi, Ashley Rickman, Eden (Daniel) Charles, and great-grandchildren Vincent, Kai, Kaleb, Ellaina, Raven, and Eskel, as well as siblings Virginia (Gary) Oberg, Dorothy (Glenn) VanAmber, and Gary Peterson.

 

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Wallace Peterson, son Richard Schoeneck, grandson Kaleb Lukes, and siblings; Katherine Pedersen, Paul Peterson, Rose Gladen, and Carolyn Mattke. As her family and friends mourn, we find comfort in knowing that Margaret's spirit lives on through our shared memories.

 

The visitation and funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 6th beginning at noon at Reach Church in Alexandria. In this time of grief and remembrance, let us honor Margaret's remarkable journey filled with love for God, family values, culinary delights, and travel adventures — but above all else — an unyielding spirit that will forever inspire us all.
