Margaret F. Skurka

1942 - 2025

Margaret F. Skurka, 82, of Valencia, passed away on Saturday morning, Jan. 11, 2025, in the comfort of her home with her family at her side.
Born in Sharpsburg, Pa., on Oct. 20, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Margaret Beyerley Heisel.
Margaret was a 1961 graduate of Richland High School. She was a medical assistant who enjoyed a fulfilling 30-year career working for Dr. Robert H. Potter, retiring from Northern Area Family Medicine in 2014. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, gardening, bird watching, building puzzles and painting ceramics.
Surviving are her daughter, Debbie Brandstetter of Valencia; three sons, Ed Skurka (Valerie) of Valencia, Rick Skurka (Sue) of Saxonburg and Dennis Skurka of Danville, Pa.; grandchildren, Britni Brandstetter (Bronson) Stapf, Josh Skurka, Nicholas Malis, Jason Skurka, Ryan (Rachel) Skurka, Jordan Skurka, Emma Brandstetter and Ashley (Adam) Benson; great-granddaughter, Raelynn Benson; sister-in-law, Peggy (Skurka) Ackerman; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Skurka, whom she married Oct. 27, 1962, and who died Sept. 24, 2020; and by her sister, Marian O'Brien.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the AHN Healthcare at Home Hospice staff for the outstanding care and compassion provided to Margaret in her final months and days.
SKURKA - To honor her wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral service for Margaret F. Skurka, who died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025.
There will be a private prayer service at Holy Savior Cemetery, Richland Township, where Margaret will be laid to rest with her loving husband.
Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the American Lung Association at lung.org, or the American Heart Association at heart.org.
