Margaret Arnold Stoke 96, of Louisville, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on January 17, 2023.
She was born on March 25, 1926 to Albert and Mary Frances Arnold, who preceded her in death, along with her sister, Dorothy Walters.
Margaret was a dedicated homemaker, wonderful cook, excellent seamstress and a caretaker, by nature. She spent many hours volunteering her time at various places such as Our Lady of Peace, Nazareth Home and VFW. She generously donated her beautiful hand-crafted items to the various organizations for their financial gain. She was a quiet, gentle woman who spoke little but observed and listened attentively.
Margaret retired from Bacon's Department store where she worked in the linen department. She also spent years taking care of her aging parents until they departed.
She was a devout Catholic who arose early in the morning to pray the rosary, and offer prayers for all of her family. She was a former member of St Raphael and St Ignatius church, but attended St Edward in her later years.
She left a wonderful legacy, including her sons Wayne Stoke (Sheila) and Steve Stoke (Bunny). Grandchildren; Stephen Stoke (Ione), Teena Stone, Louis Stoke (Deb), Jiggs Stoke, Amber Scarborough (Matt), Daniel Stoke (Lorna), Dana Schroering (Doug), Julie Brown (Clay) and Patrick Schroering. Great-grandchildren; Anthony Stoke, Dawson Stone, Sienna Scarborough, Louis, Jacob and Scarlett Stoke, and Barret and Vayla Fickel.
Funeral services will be at St Edward Catholic Church at 11:00 on Monday, January 30, 9608 Sue Helen Dr. Visitation will be at the Ratterman's Funeral Home in Jeffersontown on Taylorsville Road, on Sunday, January 29, from 2-8.
The family would like to express deep gratitude to Hosparus for their six years of compassionate care.
