Peggy Barker Starnes Teague, died September 20, 2017 at home surrounded by family. There will be a celebration of her life on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 5:30 until 7:30 pm at Culley's Funeral Home on Riggins Road with a graveside service at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Roselawn Cemetery.

Peggy graduated from Florida State College for Women in 1943 where she excelled in competitive swimming, synchronized swimming, and other sports. She was a member of Mortar Board, Chairman of Judiciary, Kappa Alpha Theta and numerous other college organizations and activities. She is an Emeritus Graduate of FSU.

She retired from the Florida Department of Education after 30 years of service to the State of Florida. She was a Lifetime Member of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs and a member of the Radiance Circle.

Always in motion, Peggy was focused on family. Her home was always busy and open to her children, grandchildren, and their friends. It was always possible to sit and visit, or find a place at the table and join others for a meal.

She is preceded in death by husbands John W. Starnes, Jr. of Guntersville, Alabama and Tallahassee, and John J. (Buddy) Teague of Apalachicola and Tallahassee, Florida.

Survivors include five Starnes children, Margo (Bobby) Adams, Ginger (Bobby) Stinson, Snapper, Richard, and Jan Starnes. Her grandchildren are Carli, Charlie (Kendra) and Tucker Adams; David (Fanie) and Daniel Pooser; Charlotte and Elizabeth Starnes. She has three great-grandchildren Connor, Layla and Lillie Adams.

Her marriage to Buddy Teague added family members Linda Teague, Johnny Teague and Everett Teague (Deborah) and their children and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.
