Margaret Tickle "Maggie" Wright

Margaret "Maggie" Tickle Wright, 79, went to be with her Heavenly Father unexpectedly at home on January 15th, 2026.

Born on June 12th, 1946 to Clarence and Ruby Qualls Tickle. She was a native of Burlington, NC but also lived in Asheboro, NC where her husband operated an elastic mill, and she worked at First National Bank before retiring in 1993. Maggie's free time eventually led her to working at the YMCA of Alamance County, where she instructed classes including "Young @ Heart" and "The Active Older Adults". She had a true passion for the YMCA and loved all her members dearly.

Maggie was a loving wife to Herb Wright for 46 years. They were always a team and their love was everlasting. She was an extraordinary mother to Tim Foster (Angela) of Mebane, NC, Amanda McKinney (Todd Perry) of Mebane, NC, Jennifer Benkosky (Chris) of Burlington, NC, Cathy Holland (Marvin) of Rural Hall, NC, and Bob Wright (Susanne) of Colorado Springs, CO. Maggie was a dedicated "Grammy" to Cameron Wright of Haw River, NC, Ben McKinney (Gabriel Stollings) of Denton, NC, Caroline King (Alex) of Gibsonville, NC, Connor Wright of Boone, NC, Ashley Clifton (Tyler) of Spring Hope, NC and Carissa Benkosky of Burlington, NC. She also cherished all of her nieces and nephews dearly. In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, Maggie is survived by her brother, Bob Tickle (Pauline) of Hartford, CT; special niece, Susan Wilson (Charlie); special nephews, Jeff Nunn (Christine) and Larry Nunn (Michelle); and special great-niece, Jennifer Wilson. Her parents and siblings, Audrey Nunn, Conrad, Clinton, and Tommy Tickle preceded her in death.

Maggie was a true woman of grace and her family remembers her most for her constant unconditional love. Maggie was also a lifelong devoted Christian and attended church every Sunday at Harvest Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence.

The funeral service will be conducted at Harvest Baptist Church on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. by Pastor Larry Lamberth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the YMCA and to Harvest Baptist Church in honor of Maggie.
