Send FlowersMargaret Mary Zachrich, 99, of Hamler, Ohio, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, Oct. 4, 2025, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Holgate, Ohio.
She was born April 30, 1926, in Hamler to the late Henry and Mary (Mack) Erford. She was one of 10 children in her family. She attended the former K-6 Porcupine Country School on County Road 8 and graduated from Hamler High School.
On March 4, 1950, she married Harold Punches, and they had six children. Harold preceded her in death Feb. 25, 1963. She would marry Jerry Zachrich on Feb. 5, 1965, and they had two children and spent 37 years together before he preceded her in death on June 7, 2002.
She was a devoted mother and homemaker; member of the Zion Church of God, Hamler, and the Wide-A-Wake Club.
She is survived by seven of her children, Kay (Robert) Blair, Kevin (Connie) Punches, Lou Ann "Toot" Wensink, Pam (David) Sunderman, Jacki (Brent) Behrman, Craig (Beth) Zachrich, Cathy (Roy) Tooman; daughter-in-law, Kathy Punches; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sister, Eileen Reese; and sister-in-law, Mary Erford.
She was also preceded in death by her eldest son, Randy "Buzz" Punches; and siblings, Lenore Gerschutz, Marvelle Clausen, Henry "Mack" Erford, John Erford, Reynold Erford, Jean Hammer, Art Erford and Mary Ann Gebers.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, with Pastor Jerry Cooke officiating. The family will have a private burial service at Marion Township Cemetery, Hamler. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday prior to the services at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to Putnam County Homecare and Hospice.
