Margarita G. Gutierrez, age 92, passed away on January 30, 2026. Margarita was born on February 22, 1933.
Margarita was employed by Mt. Carmel Nursing Home. A diligent, industrious woman devoted to her faith and God, Margarita took great pride in her husband, son, and daughters, as well as her five grandchildren. She was deeply dedicated to nurturing her family, instilling in them a sense of pride in their modest beginnings, cultural heritage, and her unwavering principles, values and moral compass. As a Mexican immigrant who transitioned to American life, Margarita worked tirelessly in the fields, harvesting produce that fed countless people across the nation. She firmly believed in the power of hard work and perseverance, striving to ensure that her family felt cherished through her exquisite home-cooked meals and the pearls of wisdom she imparted to her children and grandchildren. Margarita's sole desire was to provide the very best for her family, sparing no effort to ensure that her children lacked nothing. A determined and resourceful woman, she conducted thorough research and self-education to guarantee that her family always had access to nourishing food and essential clothing. Margarita was a formidable protector of her children, standing up for them when necessary and nurturing them when needed. She set high standards for her children, expecting nothing less than their very best. Margarita was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all lives she has touched.
Margarita is preceded in death by her husband, Salome and daughter Yolanda.
Margarita is survived by her children, Salome Guiterrez, Jr., and Annabelle Elizondo, grandchildren, Melissa Ruiz, Jene Gutierrez, Katie Tombre, Larry Elizondo, Jr., and Jessica Elizondo, great-grandchildren, Daniel Fuentes, Trey Elizondo, Ana Cristina Elizondo, Dylan Tombre, and Blake Tombre, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Seaside Reid Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Seaside Reid Chapel, 4357 Ocean Dr.,
Corpus Christi, TX 78412. Entombment to follow at
