Margarita “Margaret” (Garcia) Shepler, age 66, of Newton, KS, after a valiant battle for life, in the company of family, entered the gates of Heaven in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 3, 2024.
Margaret was born on July 20, 1958 to parents Joe (Lollie) and Mary Garcia in Chicago, IL. In 1982, Margaret married Wesley Shepler until his passing in 2012.
She had a passion for caring for those around her. For many years, she worked as a dialysis nurse. Not only did she enjoy her patients, she loved those that she worked with. Margaret also enjoyed music, dancing, family, friends and traveling. She had such a beautiful smile, infectious laughter and a big heart.
Preceded in death by parents (Joe “Lollie" & Mary) and brother Steven Garcia. She leaves behind her companion Frank Hernandez, brother Julian Garcia, son Francisco (Paco) Banda, daughter(s) Micayla Shepler, DanaRae (Shane) Appel and Teka (Matt) Piper, as well as 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Margaret touched many lives and will be missed by all that knew her.
Margaret's family has requested that any who plan to attend the Memorial Service on Saturday, to Not wear black. Margaret's favorite color is orange, however she loved all colors.
Memorials may be made out to either Caring Hands Humane Society or Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Newton. Left in the care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 6:00pm with a visitation with family following.
Margaret's Memorial Service will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 10:am. Christian Burial to follow at the St. Mary Cemetery.
