Our amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt and friend, Marjory Bravo Woffinden of
Pleasant Grove, Utah, passed away on February 4, 2023, at the age of 102. Daughter of Manuel Alex Bravo and Fannie Ernestine Viala, born on August 14, 1920, in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, she was the 7th child of 9 siblings.
Marge lived a full, happy, and interesting life. She grew up in Mexico and New Orleans. Her early years were privileged with nanny's, chauffeurs, cooks and moving often as her father was a civil engineer building sugar factories. She moved back to New Orleans at the start of WWII and that is where she met her husband, John Howard Woffinden, who was serving in the Navy on Liberty ships.
Marge and Howard were married on August 23, 1945, in
Provo, Utah, where they had their first home. They moved to Pleasant Grove in 1951. She loved Pleasant Grove and the good people there. She spent the rest of her life in Pleasant Grove raising her family, working and having many friends. She loved the Utah desert and the beautiful mountains around her home. She enjoyed her employment with Pleasant Grove City as City Treasurer for 18 years and retired in 1980. She was the first employee of Pleasant Grove City to work with a computer sending out the water bills. Her devoted husband, Howard, passed away on September 16, 1991. He was always so proud and supportive of her.
Marge enjoyed her many friends from Pleasant Grove and was part of the Los Dolce Club that met monthly. She loved traveling the world visiting many countries. She was a talented quilter belonging to two quilt guilds and judged local quilting shows. Her posterity all received many beautiful quilts that she created. She was an ardent genealogist and traveled weekly to Salt Lake City for years researching her ancestors and completing family group sheets. She was an artist and liked painting Utah red rock deserts. Her passion was reading novels and often completed 3 novels a week. At 101 she overcame a broken ankle and Covid.
Marge has a wonderful posterity and is survived by her 3 children; John (Janet) Woffinden; Greg Woffinden, Deann (Chris) Huish; 11 grandchildren (one deceased granddaughter), 32 great grandchildren (one deceased great grandson), and 2 great great grandchildren and 2 more arriving this spring. She was a champion of her children and grandchildren, loving them immensely. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1951 and was sealed to her husband in April 1970 in the Logan Utah Temple.
