Margery May Chalfant,70, of Lanesboro, PA, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and laughter that will be cherished by all who knew her. She was born on August 26, 1955, in West Chester, PA.
Margery came to live with the Wilkes Family on October 28, 2004, and formed a special bond with them that defined her later years. She was a loving and caring person, known for her fantastic sense of humor. Her personality shone brightly, and she had a unique ability to brighten the lives of those around her.
Margery was a dedicated member of the Lanesboro Community Church, where she found joy and fellowship with her church family. She engaged in various hobbies that brought her happiness, including puzzles, coloring books, singing karaoke, and watching cartoons, especially the beloved series "Bluey." One of her fondest memories and proudest accomplishments was the time spent with her friends at Keystone, where her spirit truly blossomed.
She is survived by her loving foster parents, Colleen and George Wilkes; her foster brother, United States Navy Chief Petty Officer George L.S. Wilkes; and her biological brothers, Harry and Raymond Chalfant. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her kindness and spirit.
Margery is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Grace (Preston) Chalfant; her brothers, Steven, John, and Robert Chalfant; and her sister, Betty Lou Mellinger.
A visitation will be held in her honor at the Lanesboro Community Church located at 219 Main St, Susquehanna, PA 18847, on April 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service that will commence at 11:00 AM.
Margery May Chalfant will be dearly missed by her loved ones. Her legacy of love, laughter, and friendship will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
