Margery McKee, a beloved resident of Medina, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31st, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on Wednesday, January 22nd, 1930, in Middleport, New York, Margery lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to her family and community.
She became a familiar face at the Apple Grove Inn Restaurant, where she worked as a waitress, bringing warmth and kindness to all who dined there. Margery was a talented seamstress and tailor, having worked for many years at the Newell Shirt Factory in Medina, NY. Her skills and attention to detail were admired by many.
A devoted member of the Oak Orchard Assembly of God Church, Margery was a Sunday School Teacher who touched the lives of many young members of her congregation. Her faith and commitment to her church community were unwavering.
Margery had a passion for sewing, playing the piano, and watching wildlife. She was an avid reader who found joy in the pages of countless books. Above all, she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart.
She is survived by her loving children: Cynthia (Donald) Lang of Waldorf, MD, Gary (Carol) McKee of Charleston, SC, Marcia (John) Heveron of Lyndonville, NY, and Geri Lynn Lonnen of New Hartford NY. Margery was a proud grandmother to Judy, Eric, Penny, Vicky, Bryan, Andrew, and Kendra, and a great-grandmother to 12 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Margery was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph J. Bateman and Ethel May, and her siblings Edwin Bateman, Kenneth Bateman, Howard Bateman, Ada Walsch, Imogene Heiser, Paul Bateman and Richard Bateman.
A private graveside service will be held at West Ridgeway Cemetery, where Margery will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Huntington Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Ave, Suite 902, New York, NY 10018.
