WINDOM - Margie I. (Harris) Nelson, age 79, of Windom, passed away peacefully after a massive stroke on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Sanford USD Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Margie at a later date.

The Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center of Trimont, Sherburn, and Welcome is assisting the family with arrangements. If you would like to leave a message of sympathy for her family you can do so at her obituary page at www.sinnfuneralhome.com.

Margie was born on October 2, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Rosebud Harris and Ken Yarnell. She attended Jackson High School. Margie was united in marriage to Jim Nelson on August 23, 1974, at the Fort Sill Army Base in Oklahoma. After they were married, they moved to Germany and lived on various Army bases. Margie and Jim later moved back to the United States, and spent time at Fort Campbell in Kentucky and Wyoming before finally settling in Windom.

Throughout her life, Margie held various jobs as a cleaner, in banking and real estate, and most recently as a caregiver with MRCI. Margie and Jim ran the Rummage Room in Windom from 1989-1999, where they sold second-hand goods to the area.

Margie loved spending time with her family and friends, and especially treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren. Margie spent as much time as she could in her garden at home, either working on it or relaxing in it. She also liked to go fishing with family and friends.

Margie spent as many Sundays as she could at Jackpot Junction with Jim and Tom, and greatly enjoyed playing the slot machines.

Margie is survived by her loving husband, Jim; children, Thomas Nelson, Sara Bradfeldt, Matt Bradfeldt, John Bradfeldt, and Becky Bradfeldt; grandchildren, Jude Le’Clair-Nelson, Rylon Nelson, and Aydon Nelson; brothers, Ken Yarnell and John Yarnell both of Seattle, WA; sisters, Donna (Robert Pena) Gamboa of Welcome and Chris (Eric) Griffin of Ceylon; brother-in-law, Brian (Denise) Nelson; sisters-in-law, Sharon Darrel, Erin Julien; Linda Parks, Susan Turner, and Kathy Nelson; nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.

Margie was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Rosebud and Bennie Schroeder; father, Ken (Nellie) Yarnell; and brother, Joseph (Roxann) Schroeder.
