Margie’s life began on December 7, 1932, in Tampa, KS. She was the daughter of Ferdinand C. and Mabel E. (Hartman) Miller. Margie graduated from Tampa High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to Harlan Schlesener on April 6, 1952, in Tampa. Margie worked as a clerk for Boelling Pharmacy, where she joked, she was a 67-year-old soda jerk. Margie also worked in the cafeteria at the Herington Elementary School and Al’s Café. You could find her volunteering at the Hilltop, driving for Meals on Wheels and working the front desk. Margie was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and previously belonged to Immanual Lutheran- Shady Brook Church. She is survived by her children Denise “Pooh” Schlesener of Herington, Butch Schlesener of Herington, and Saundra Wall of Indianapolis; grandchildren Casey, Cisti, Lee Alan, Crystal, and Mackenzie; great grandchildren Ashlee, Donavan, Aubrey, Kaimey, Kilyn, Callen, Camden and Teagan and several nieces and nephews. Margie passed away at her home on Tuesday November 12, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Gloye Surrette and Kathryn Kroupa and brother Merle Miller. Her family will gather with friends on Sunday November 17th from 2-4 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington. Her graveside service will be held on Monday November 18, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanual Shady Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Dickinson County Home Health and Hospice or the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Altar Guild.
