Yazel-Megli Funeral Homes - HeringtonMyron’s life began April 29, 1945, in Fargo, ND. He was the son of Norman and Gertrude (Johnson) Jones. Myron was inducted into the United States Army in 1965 and served his country for the next 20 years, retiring as a staff sergeant. He served four tours of duty in Vietnam. While in the Army, he benefited from getting his high school diploma, and skill training in wheel vehicle mechanic school, NCO academy, NBC school, Armor School, and learned to speak six different languages. In return, after completing his first tours in Vietnam, he volunteered to go back and serve. After retirement, Myron went to work as a maintenance contractor at Fort Riley. He also worked maintenance at the Lutheran Home (Legacy) in Herington. Myron was united in marriage to Linda (Carlson) Jones in 1985 in Savannah, GA and after Linda’s passing, he was united in marriage to Paula (Hair) Jones on September 28, 2002, in Herington. He was a faithful member of the New Life Church in Herington. Myron is survived by his son Myron D. Jones, Jr; siblings Donald (Carey) Jones, Virgil Haugan, Wayne (Sonja) Haugan, and Marilyn Holt; as well as many friends and his caregiver and pastor, Lorenzo Jackson. Myron passed away on Monday November 10, 2025, at Tall Grass Healthcare in Junction City. He is preceded in death by parents and both wives. His family will gather with friends on Saturday November 22, 2025, from 11-1 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington where his funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. led by his pastor Lorenzo Jackson. Myron will be laid to rest with military honors at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington follow the service. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to Our Daily Bread Ministries P.O.
