Margie L. Williams
September 30th, 1936 – September 6th, 2025
Margie L. Williams, age 88, died on Saturday, September 6th at her home in Portal, GA. She was raised in Candler County before marrying her husband Alfred H. Williams of Portal, where they made their home.
During her life, she enjoyed being a seamstress and a homemaker. Margie had a "Green Thumb" and loved working with her flowers and plants. Not many days went by that Margie didn't have an apple. She also loved fresh fried fish and shrimp, never turning it down. One of her favorite past-times was watching and cheering on the Atlanta Braves. Margie was a member of the Portal Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents Ben and Gladyss Lewis, sisters Betty Hill and Pat Woods, and daughter Margie Williams- Collins.
She is survived by her children, Alfred B. Williams of Portal, Joe R. Williams (Pamela) of Statesboro, Jennifer C. Williams (Mark) of Flemington, GA, grandchildren Brandi A. Waters (Josh) of Statesboro, Joe R. Williams Jr. (Stephanie) of Statesboro, Robbie Collinsworth of Buffalo, NY, great grandchildren Nathan Waters, Tyler Waters, Hogan Williams, Maggie Williams and Daniel Kittrell, siblings Madelyn Moxley and John Lewis.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday September 9th from 10:00am until 11:00am at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro followed by the funeral at 11:00am. with the Pastor Zeke Parker officiating.
Pallbearers will be Joe R. Williams, Jr., Paul Reeves, Mike Kittrell and Mark Taylor.
Interment will be at Portal Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, PO Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30458.
