Margo Given Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mission Park Funeral Chapels Cherry Ridge on Mar. 13, 2026.
Margo Annette Given, 82, of San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Margo and her late husband of 34 years, Ron, met in high school after which Ron joined the military. This began their journey of a lifetime, traveling around the world including Japan, Washington D.C. and Presidio San Francisco, while raising their two sons. Their travels brought them to Ft. Sam Houston where he retired from the Army in San Antonio in 1982. Margo worked in the development office at St. Mary's Hall until Ron's death in 1996. During their years in San Antonio, they both loved deep sea fishing, where Margo was a talented angler and co-captain.

Margo spent the next 30 years pouring love into her children and grandsons and caring for her ailing mother, Sassie. Her greatest joy in life was her grandsons, whose games and events she rarely missed. Win or lose, the boys could always count on a huge hug and large container of Nana cookies. Margo was a faithful servant, heavily involved in The Fellowship of San Antonio and its choir, where she would spend endless hours in choir practice and decorating for the church.

Margo was preceded in death by her husband Ron Given, her father Cecil Hammond, mother Theresa "Sassie" Chase and half- brother Michael Chase. She is survived by her children, Brent Given and wife Cece, Brian Given and his wife Amy, former daughter in law Tami Given, grandsons Blake Given and wife Kelly, Cord Given, Parker Given and wife Jaime, great granddaughter Anna Rose, and Noah Given and wife Sarah.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 20th at 11am in the Chapel at UTSA - Southwest School of Art, 300 August St. Valet at Club Giraud, 707 N. St. Marys St. A reception will be held immediately afterwards. A graveside burial at Ft. Sam Houston will be held with her family at a later date.
