Margo Platt Obituary

Margo Louise (Haycock) Platt

1952 - 2025

- Margo Louise (Haycock) Platt, age 73, passed away on December 28, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah from a ruptured brain aneurysm. She passed while surrounded by her loved ones.

Margo was born on April 17, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah to her loving parents, Senith (Pugh) Haycock and Kirk Haycock.

Margo graduated from South High School in 1970. She was a waitress at Dee's Restaurant for seven years. She then became a parts driver for NAPA Auto Parts for a few years, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. She worked at NAPA until the day before her first child was born.

After raising her family, Margo got a job working for the Jordan Park Peace Gardens, where she made dear friends that she loved working with. There she was able to use her gardening talents to help maintain a beautiful place where thousands of people could go to find peace.

Her fondest titles were "Loving Wife", "Mother" and "Grandmother". She put her whole heart and soul into these roles. She loved her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren equally and unconditionally. Margo dedicated her life to raising her six children. Despite the pain in the ass we all are, she loved being our mother. She diligently studied many ways to learn all she could about good parenting. She taught her children mathematics, how to read and write, science, and so much more. However, the most important things she taught them were how to appreciate, love, and respect all people. Her many sleepless nights and tireless efforts to raise her children have made the world a better place.

Margo found joy in gardening, sewing, quilting, baking, crafting, reading, music, gaming, playing pool, and playing card games with those she loved. She blessed countless lives by sharing her homemade crafts, quilts, breads and more. Known for her fondness of lighthearted, cheesy jokes, she delighted in making others laugh at every opportunity.

Margo faithfully served both her church and her community in various ways and callings throughout her life. She was a true disciple of our Savior, Jesus Christ. She shared His love with everyone she met. She had an unshakable testimony of His Atonement. She loved being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She exemplified the love of our Savior.

Margo is survived by her beloved husband, William Henry Platt III ("Bill"); her children, Vanessa, (Sam), Kirk, (Misti), Michael, Robert, (Nania), Alex, (Kimber), Brianna, and (John Paul "JP"); her grandchildren, Trevor, Olivia, (Jake), Marcello, (Caitlyn), Zachary, Niela, Kohen, Walter, Amara, Thatcher, and soon to be joined by two more grandchildren and a great-grand baby; and her siblings, LaRee and Linda.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Mary, Judy, Robin, and Joy; and her brother, Doug.

The funeral service will be at 12:00PM January 2, 2026, with a viewing starting at 10:00AM. There will also be a viewing on January 1, 2026, from 6:00-8:00PM. All services will be held at 934 W Fremont Ave, Salt Lake City, Utah- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment at 2:00PM at the Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery 6500 S Redwood Rd, West Jordan, UT.

There are things that I thank Maro for. She was the wonderful people who helped get my house ready for my son Sean to come home from the hospital. That was when was getting chemo for his Leukemia. Because of that he was in Compromised immune system (CIS) issue. And she helped with things that I needed help with. She was a wonderful relief Society President. And a fantastic friend. Hopefully she and my Mother are hanging out in Heaven.
