Marguerite Wenger, 94, of Hiawatha, died peacefully in the early morning hours of October 25, 2025, at Maple Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Lola Marguerite Smith in Humboldt, NE October 10, 1931, she was one of six children born to the late Roy and Lola Smith. She grew up in rural Humboldt and Sabetha, KS.

Marguerite married Henry Hiskey in 1951, and they were blessed with five children: Roger, Brenda, Sindy, Kevin, and Jeanne. They initially lived in Sabetha, KS but moved to Hiawatha in 1956 where she remained the rest of her life. Henry passed in 1984.

She met and later married Frank Wenger in 1993. They made their home in Hiawatha. Frank passed in 1999.

Survivors include two sons: Roger Hiskey (Jeri) of Des Moines, IA, and Kevin Hiskey (Judy) of Olathe, KS; three daughters: Brenda Bosse (Leonard) of Canon City, CO; Sindy Landreth (Jerry) of Virden, IL, and Jeanne Holloway of Hiawatha, KS; along with 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Lee and Max Smith; her sisters Evelyn Roland, Vivian Beeghly, and Sue Snyder; her husband Henry Hiskey; and her second husband Frank Wenger.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, with Pastor Shane Spangler officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. (one hour prior to the service). Burial will take place at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Tenley's Treats or St. Jude's Children Hospital sent in care of the funeral home, 124 S 7th St., Hiawatha 66434.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 until 5 p.m. Wednesday
