Margurite Ayers Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lienkaemper Funeral Chapel - Ontario on Jan. 12, 2026.
Our beautiful mom went to join our dad in heaven on 12/24/25, she was 93 years old.

Marge was born on July 21, 1932 in Braymer, Missouri to Peter and Ila Archer. Marge was the youngest in the family, preceded by 5 brothers, Charles, Lee, Millard, Donald and Wilbert. Growing up during the great depression, the family worked as migrant workers, living in labor camps or a tent, leading her brother to say, "we lived the Grapes of Wrath life." With the constant moving Marge attended 8 different schools.

After graduating from the eighth grade, she stayed home to help her mother care for her disabled brother Wilbert. As an adult, she was proud to obtain her GED.

The family eventually settled in Nampa, Idaho where Marge worked as an usherette at the Adelaide Theater. Around that time Marge met Dale Ayers and they were married December 12, 1948. They were married for over 72 years at the time of Dale's death in 2021.

They both worked for the Bureau of Reclamation, living at the Andersen Ranch Dam, before transferring to Warden Washington. In 1952, Dale received an "invite" to join the army, he went to Texas, Marge was able to move there, too. After Dale's honorable discharge in 1954 they moved to Northern California where they worked and enjoyed longtime friendships for a few years. They adopted 2 children, Phil in 1958 and Lisa in 1960. They felt their family was complete and wanted to be closer to extended family. The family of four left California in 1963 to settle in Ontario, Oregon.

Marge was a wonderful wife and an amazing, loving mother, serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother and Youth Group Leader. Marge stayed home with her children until they were both in school and then she took a job at Mary Kay School, that allowed her to be home when school was out throughout their childhood. Later she started working for the Argus Observer, eventually retiring from there.

Marge was the driving force in starting the community Thanksgiving Dinners in Ontario. One of her many accomplishments.

Marge was always a woman of strong faith belonging to the Ontario First Baptist Church for over 50 years and has been a member of Payette First Baptist church for the last few years.

Marge is preceded in death by her husband Dale, her grandson Nathan, her parents and her 5 brothers.

Survived by son Phillip Ayers (Deb), daughter Lisa Kendoll (Scott), eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great great-daughter and many nieces.

Please join the family for a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Payette First Baptist Church, followed by the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on January 31, 2026.
