Maria Theresa Alloway, 77, of St. Paul, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, at her home in St. Paul.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at the United Methodist Church in St. Paul. Rev. Nicole Schwartz-Eck will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Harvard Cemetery in Harvard.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Maria was born on October 30, 1948, at Harvard, Nebraska, the daughter of Francis and Annabelle (Schneller) Leichleiter.
She grew up in Harvard where she cared for her siblings and attended Harvard Public Schools.
She was married to Frank Swanson and later married Larry McNabb. In 1994, she was united in marriage to Rick Alloway.
Over the years she lived in the various communities of Harvard, Omaha, Clay Center.
She had worked as a waitress at Andy’s Café and the Korthouse Lounge, before becoming a CNA, where she worked in Kenesaw and Minden. She later began working as a direct support staff at the Hastings Regional Center in drugs and alcohol recovery and with troubled youth. She retired after 20+ years.
In March of 2025 she moved to St. Paul to be closer to her daughter and family.
She had been a member of the First Methodist Church in Hastings and was an active member of AA and Alanon over the years.
She loved gardening, plants and flowers. She collected antiques, angels, crosses and antique coffee pots. Her favorite holidays were Halloween and Christmas. She loved watching her grandchildren and would do anything for her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children and spouses, Brian and Miranda Swanson of Ithaca, NY, Angela and Mikey Eytcheson of St. Paul and Christopher McNabb of Harvard; grandchildren, Skyler Bailey, Keely McNabb Harbert, Annabelle Swanson, Oliver Swanson, Jordyn Marie Eytcheson, Mikayla Eytcheson, Misty Carpenter, and Tiffany Bailey; great-grandchildren, Hailey Fellows, Randy Fellows and Hudson Kuil; siblings and spouses, Steven and Tracey Leichleiter, Mike and Jo Leichleiter, and Susan Wrieth, all of Omaha, and Patrick and Terrie Leichleiter of Harvard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kristina Swanson; grandson, Timothy Bailey, Jr.; brothers, Joseph, Wesley and Thomas; infant sister, Donna; and sister, Rose DeMoor.
