Maria Grazia Buchwald (nee Barsi), entered into eternal peace on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
A child of God was born to Anna and Fulvio Barsi on December 20, 1938. Her parents, brother Marino, daughter Michelle, grandson Joeseph and beloved Robert McGregor are waiting to welcome her home. Many remain to honor her memory, her cherished daughters and their families: Dawn (Tim), granddaughter Anna (Andrew) and great-grands Emilia and Henry, grandson Maximilian; Evanna, granddaughters Maria (Shawn), Gabrielle-Grace and Dominica Rachel, son-in-law Danny, granddaughter Sabrina (Jared), great-grands Iris and Lexington, grandchild Breezy, his sons Jordan and Shawn, brother Guido (Anna), nephews Danny and David and niece Debby.
Knowing her suffering has ended, we commend her spirit to the Heavenly Father she so loved and was faithful to all her life. Maria leaves her love and lessons of faith with all who knew her taking our love and adoration with her. She will always comfort us, until we are reunited in the heavenly kingdom Maria now calls home.
Maria received the Certificate of Proficiency as a Beautician, an occupation in which she excelled from 1966 to 2013. During those years Maria became an accomplished business woman. She co-owned several salons, and her own the salon, called Total Look in the Kingsland Shopping Center. The Government of Alberta asked her to be an Exam Supervisor to many young stylists. An honor she accepted gracefully, and very few even knew about.
After raising her three daughters, finding time she needed to fill, Maria did an hour a week in the chapel of Adoration. Her dinners for Inn From the Cold, these feasts were much anticipated by those who attended.
A Memorial Mass for Maria will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, 5340 - 4 Street SW, Calgary, Alberta. Following the Mass, a time of fellowship will be held in the parish hall to share memories and refreshments.
