Gonzales, Texas - On Monday, September 15, the world lost a remarkable soul, Maria I. Cordova, who peacefully departed to reunite with her beloved siblings, her ex-husband Fermin Lopez Ruiz, and her cherished daughter, Martha Lopez Ruiz. Her legacy is one of unwavering dedication, tireless hard work, and an abundant love that touched all who knew her.
Born on April 4, 1940, Maria lived a life marked by a profound devotion to her family and community. Her caring spirit and nurturing heart leave an indelible mark on the lives she has touched. She is survived by her loving husband, Eduardo Velazquez Cordova, and her vibrant family: her children-Maria Lopez, Jose Lopez Ruiz, Maria Ramirez, Rosahura Lopez Ruiz, Maria Garcia, Rosa Maria Lopez Ruiz, Juliana Page, Fermin Lopez Ruiz, Carolina Lopez Ruiz-Reyna, and Xochilt Ramirez Saldaña, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her legacy will continue through those she left behind, who will carry forward the values she instilled.
Maria's warmth radiated like sunlight, her strength stood firm like an oak, and her love enveloped those around her, creating a bond that will be profoundly missed by all fortunate enough to experience her spirit.
A memorial service in celebration of Maria's life will be held for family and friends at 11:00 am Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 608 St. Paul Street, Gonzales, Texas, 78629.
