Maria Del Rosario Villarreal, 72, of Port Isabel passed away Friday October 1, 2021.
Maria, known by everyone as Chayo, was born in Matamoros Tamaulipas, Mexico on October 7, 1948, to Juan Orozco and Margarita Vega.
She moved to Port Isabel, Texas at a very young age and this is where she met the love of her life Pete. They were married for 48 wonderful years. They were inseparable you could always find them walking around Port Isabel with her beloved dog Negro. Maria was of little words a very quiet person who kept to herself but was a very hard-working person. She worked for the Point Isabel School District in the cafeteria and in numerous hotels on South Padre Island as a housekeeper. She really enjoyed her work. Her hobbies were gardening, volunteering to help who she could and caring for her beloved dogs. Maria was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, and you would see Maria and Pete at 8 o'clock mass on Sunday mornings before she would go into work. Maria was a loving mother, mother-in-law, sister, daughter, cousin, aunt, and friend. Her son meant the world to her, and she loved him very much. She was a very family-oriented woman and shared the little she had with her family back in Matamoros, visiting them weekly and taking them what she could. She loved listening to music and singing while she cooked and cleaned. Maria will be dearly missed by all her loved ones.
Maria is preceded in death by her loving husband Pedro "Pete" Villarreal, parents Juan Orozco and Margarita Vega, brothers: Renato Orozco, Martin Orozco, Pedro Orozco and Luis Orozco, Sisters Maria de Refugia Orozco and Trinidad Orozco Vega, Mother-in-law Gertrudis "Tula" Villarreal, Sister-in law Blanca Zurita and Brothers-in-law Jose Villarreal, Pablo Villarreal, and Carlos Salazar.
