Maria Femminis Obituary

With deep love and gratitude for her life, the family of Maria Dolores Artero Femminis, beloved mother to Marie Femminis, shares that she peacefully passed away on November 10, 2025, in the comfort of her home.
Maria was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John Femminis; her parents Antonio and Josefa Artero; her brother Antonio (Tony) Artero; sister Margaret Artero; and her parents-in-law Mario and Josephine Femminis.
Fondly known to many as "Tita," Maria is lovingly remembered by her brothers, sisters, and their spouses: Carmen (Larry) Kasperbauer; Rose Peredo; Josephine McKeever; Joseph (Annie) Artero; Virginia (Fred) Leon Guerrero; Franklin (Margie Ann) Artero; Eleanor Artero; Pascual (Marilen) Artero; Victor (Julie) Artero; and sister-in-law Millie Artero. She will also be dearly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family, who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
Tita was born in Agana, Guam, on June 27, 1934, the eldest of twelve children. At just seven years old, she witnessed the hardships of World War II when enemy forces invaded Guam. During the occupation, her father, Antonio, courageously sheltered U.S. Navy radioman George Tweed for 21 months. Tita's mother, Josefa, lovingly prepared weekly provisions for Mr. Tweed, which Antonio delivered in secrecy - an act of bravery and compassion for which he was later awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, deeply influencing Tita throughout her life.
Following in her father's footsteps, Tita lived a life defined by selflessness and service. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted member of St. Albert's Parish, where she served for many years as Sacristan. From the dedication of the Church in 1977, Tita and her family were deeply involved in parish life, assisting then-pastor Fr. William J. Marshall. Fittingly, the first Mass celebrated in the new church marked the 50th wedding anniversary of Tita's in-laws, with Fr. Marshall presiding.
Tita's kindness extended well beyond her church community. She gave freely of her time, her resources, and her heart to those in need. In her later years, the same generosity she had shown others returned to her many times over through the loving support of friends, family, and caregivers.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Assist On Call Hospice, who cared for Maria since January 3rd, and to the team at All Phase Home Health, whose skilled and tender care in her final days brought comfort and peace, becoming part of our family.
Tita's life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a legacy that will live on in all who knew her.

Marie, I loved spending Sunday mornings with Maria. She was a great influence on me. She gave so much to the church. I know you gave so much of yourself also. You were a caring and loving daughter. Rest in Peace Maria. God Bless You.
