Maria Mirtala Fernandez, 85, of Lake Zurich, passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2026. She was born on July 19, 1940, in Guatemala to the late Alicia Manzo and Oscar Mansilla. Mirta was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who deeply loved her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her loving husband, Arturo Fernandez who passed away just a few months ago in September 2025 and her sisters, Maria Elizabeth and Maria Virginia Manzo.

Mirta’s strength came from her faith in God, and she lived each day with faith, love, and humility. She was devoted to her family and will be deeply missed by her daughters Ruth, Claudia and Silvia Albanes, Cindy (Javier) Alanis; son, Mario (Shirley) Fernandez; grandchildren, Marcela Albanes, Evan Markowski, Marcos and Alexis Alanis, Mia and Ellie Fernandez; sister Blanca Aracely Manzo, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 4 p.m. to time of prayer service 7:30 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 941 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich, IL 60047.

Burial will be Monday, January 26, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1400 S Wolf Rd, Hillside, IL 60162

She often donated to multiple charities and causes she believed in. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in her honor.
