Maria Velma Garcia, a loving mother grandmother, and a friend, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, surrounded by those who loved her. She was born on February 2, 1948, to Bacilo Pacheco and Herlinda Oliva and raised by Beatrice Oliva and Lucas Oliva. She attended Roy Miller High School and graduated from Stevenson Beauty College with the help of Martin and Delia Curiel.
Velma was a talented beautician for more than 45 years, dedicated to her craft and to making others feel beautiful inside and out. She was generous and always willing to help others when she could, with a kind heart and a gentle spirit.
She loved being surrounded by her family and friends, sharing laughter, stories, and love. Music and dancing brought her so much joy and she lit up and room with her presence. She was also a proud football fan, cheering loudly for her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. Her laughter, warmth, and love for life touched everyone she met. Even when illness slowed her down, her spirit remained strong, and her love never faded. Velma was a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
Velma Garcia is preceded in death by her parents Bacilo Pacheco and Herlinda Oliva, her grandmother Beatrice Oliva, Grandfather Lucas Oliva and her sister Ramona Gutierrez.
Velma Garcia is survived by her son Jessie Joe Cruz (Veronica Cruz), daughter Vanessa Marie Garcia, grandchildren Joshua Paul Cruz, Anthony Jeremiah Cruz, Lucas Deleon, Jessica Victoria Cruz, Jasmine Valerie Cruz, and Olivia Rose Guajardo, great grandchild Jace Contreras, and her sister Mary Sue Resendez.
