With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Maria Guadalupe Godinez, who peacefully left this world on March 19, 2025, at the age of 99, surrounded by the love of her family at Mission Regional Medical Center in
Mission, Texas. She was born on September 11, 1925, in Los Reyes, Michoacán, Mexico, to the late Francisco Bracamontes and Refugio Vasquez Flores.
Maria was a woman of immense strength, resilience, and boundless generosity. A professional cook by trade, she poured her heart into every meal she prepared, turning simple ingredients into mouthwatering dishes that nourished both body and soul. Whether it was enchiladas, chiles rellenos, or any of her legendary recipes, she always left everyone wanting more. Cooking was her art, and through it, she expressed love in its purest form.
Fiercely independent and hardworking, Maria dedicated her life to providing for her family. Her unwavering determination and tireless work ethic were a testament to the depth of her devotion. She carried an unshakable sense of responsibility, ensuring that her children were always well cared for.
Beyond the kitchen, Maria found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for gardening, nurturing plants with the same love and care she showed her family. A spirited woman, she never missed a chance to play cards, cherishing every moment of friendly competition and laughter. Maria had a boundless heart, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
She also shared a special bond with her beloved parrot, Odi, who brought her endless joy and companionship.
Maria is now reunited in eternal peace with her beloved daughter, Carmen, her grandson, Joe Craft, and her numerous siblings who passed before her.
Her legacy of love and strength lives on through her eight cherished children: Maria Guzman, Socorro Craft, Francisca Patre, Carmen Monin, Efren (Gloria) Barajas, Clotilde (David) Bracamontes, Martin (Amalia) Godinez, and Dolores (Rafael) Cavazos. She also leaves behind a large and loving family of 30 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her spirit in their hearts forever.
A visitation to honor Maria's life will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Flores Funeral Home in
Mission, Texas, with a rosary recited at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in
Mission, Texas, followed by interment at Lord & I Cemetery in Palmview, Texas.
