Maria Gomez

Maria Gomez, 97, of Newnan, GA, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025. She was born on August 9, 1928, in New York City to immigrant parents who came from Galicia, Spain, to Ellis Island in the early 1900s. She was the youngest of five siblings who had all preceded her in death. Maria is also preceded in death by her husband, Sol Gomez (10/29/1996), just six months after moving to Newnan, and most recently her son, Steven Gomez, 64, who passed on 10/30/2025.

Maria was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Todd, and her husband, Gary, and her grandchildren, Barry Gomez, Tina Gomez, Wesley Todd, and Michael Todd.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, GA 30263, with Pastor JW Hilliard of Southside Church officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 656 Roscoe Road, Newnan, GA 30263.
