Kay Davidson Benson passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and inspiration. Born on November 18, 1949 in Sylacauga, Alabama, Kay was the cherished daughter of the late John L. and Helen Davidson, beloved sister to Greg and Rick, devoted wife to Pete Benson, loving mother to Kara and Jolen, and proud grandmother to Jayce, Colton, and Sienna. Kay described herself as an educator, writer, illustrator, gardener, reader, and most important of all, daughter of the King.
Kay's life was a beautiful tapestry of leadership and creativity, woven with kindness and unwavering faith. She had a rare gift for seeing the potential in people and the desire to help them flourish.
Her journey began as a preschool teacher, where her passion for nurturing young minds blossomed. That same passion grew into a calling: Kay became a guiding force in the Mom to Mom ministry, first in Boston and later in Peachtree City, Georgia, where she established the Mom to Mom program at Dogwood Church, so that mothers could learn, share, and grow in faith.
Out of her Mom to Mom ministry, Kay saw a need to further assist mothers in teaching God's word and joined together with her friend, Saundria Keck, to write and illustrate three children's books - Remember and Don't Forget, The Jesus Story, and finally Teach Your Children, a Bible storybook created solely for Syrian and Iraqi refugees through the organization Heart for Lebanon. Kay's leadership and faith inspired communities worldwide from Japan to Singapore, when Pete's job carried them across the globe.
Kay lived by the words of Galatians 5:13: "Through love, serve one another." Her servant's heart and creative spirit will continue to shine through the lives she touched.
A memorial and celebration of Kay's life will be held on November 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Four Corners Church, 1608 US Highway 29 North, Newnan, GA 30263. Friends and family are welcome to join us in honoring her remarkable life.
