She attended Robert E. Lee Elementary School in Eagle Pass Texas. She was a helpful daughter to her mother, caring and helping raise her younger siblings. She began to work in the fields of Texas with her mother at a young age of 11 years old. She traveled to many different states following the crops and harvest to help support her family, arising early in the morning, always doing for others. A great example of strength resilience and endurance. The matriarch of the family. Our Riena, our Queen. A loving mother to 12 children, she loved to cook and make their favorite meals. She was very involved and known within the community of Avenal helping others to get ahead as she knew the struggles of life. Her favorite hobbies and pastimes were cooking, sewing, gardening, music, dancing, and having family gatherings. She loved yard selling, antiques, and finding rare finds & treasures. She enjoyed having her own yard sales and looked forward to helping others, always generous, energetic, and resourceful. A good seamstress, altering clothes, and sewing for many occasions. She worked in many different places across the area of Kings and Fresno County. After retiring she enjoyed the company of her family and friends hosting gatherings with good food or a big pot of menudo, pozole, caldo, tamales, or whatever she'd dish up. Inviting others, always hospitable. We will forever miss her and her loving ways, her jokes, dichos(quotes) and stories of her past childhood in Texas and her Tex-Mex traditions. May she rest peaceably now in God's loving arms in Heaven. No more sorrow, no more pain, as God has restored and renewed her body to new. To be reunited again, amongst her loved ones that have gone before. Our loss is Heaven's gain. We will miss you everyday mom, but we know that you're at peace in Heaven now, in a better place. We know you'll be waiting for us one day, so fly high, sparkle bright, and shine on us until we meet again. You will forever be in all our hearts, our thoughts, and our memories always. We love you forever Mom!
