Maria C. Guzman

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Maria C. Guzman on February 20, 2026, at the age of 90. Maria was born in Cerritos, Mexico and lived in Royse City, Texas.

She lived a life marked by strength, compassion, and a deep devotion to her family.

She was born on May 4, 1935, in Cerritos, Mexico, a daughter of Angel and Barbara Contreras. She is preceded in death by her husband, Pedro S. Guzman.

Through her journey of 90 years she touched many lives with her beautiful smile, her loving spirit, and ability to overcome many challenges.

She was very proud of becoming a naturalized US citizen. She worked many years at Decker's packaging food and then at the Dallas Athletic Club in ladies locker room.

She is survived by her 5 children; Joe Guzman, Peter Guzman II, Tina Valenciana, Lou Love and Marie Lohn.

She is also a loving grandmother to 22 grandkids, and 2 great-grandkids. We will miss her greatly.

A memorial service celebrating Maria's life will be held on March 9th, 2026 at 2:00pm, at the Reflections Chapel at Rest Haven Funeral Home - 2500 TX-66 Rockwall, TX 75087. We invite all who knew her and loved her to join us in honoring her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in her name to Alzheimer's Society.
