Maria Angela Hernandez, 71, of Beardstown, died Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Beardstown Health and Rehab.
She was born March 18, 1954, in San Luis, Rio Colorado, Mexico, the daughter of Francisco Alvarez and Carlota Garcia. She married Mario Hernandez in 1979, and he survives in Beardstown.
She is also survived by her son Carlos Meda (wife Yessy Luna) of San Luis and her daughter Graciela Jones (husband Nathan) of Beardstown; three grandchildren Orlando Meda, Rhueben Jones, and Delilah Jones; her sister Paulina Chaidez of San Luis; her brother Francisco Alvarez of San Luis; numerous nieces and nephews; and her two cats and dog Chiquita. Maria's love and care for her family was unwavering, a testament to her devotion. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Manuela Alvarez.
Maria attended school in San Luis, Mexico, and is of the Catholic faith. She was a provider for her family, a hardworking woman who balanced work and family life. She was known for her culinary skills, particularly her 'magic salsa,' which added a personal touch to every meal.
A memorial service will be held at 5 PM Wednesday, July 2 ,2025 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. There will be no visitation and burial will take place in Mexico at a later date.

Nació el 18 de marzo de 1954 en San Luis, Río Colorado, México, hija de Francisco Álvarez y Carlota García. Se casó con Mario Hernández en 1979, y él sobrevive en Beardstown.

María estudió en San Luis, México, y es católica. Era el sustento de su familia, una mujer trabajadora que equilibraba su vida laboral y familiar. Era conocida por sus habilidades culinarias, en particular por su "salsa mágica", que le daba un toque personal a cada comida.
El servicio conmemorativo se celebrará a las 17:00 h del miércoles 2 de julio de 2025 en Colwell Memorial Home en Beardstown. No habrá velatorio y el entierro se realizará en México más adelante.
