Funeral Service for Maria “Mary” Valdonado will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father John Ohlig officiating. Viewing will be from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Brownfield Funeral Home, with Rosary at 6:00 pm.

Mary was born on August 7, 1962, to Florentino and Conception Cruz Martinez in Brownfield, TX. She passed away on November 21, 2025, at the age of 63.

Known for her warm spirit, Mary was a devoted member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, where she found strength and purpose. Her unwavering faith was reflected through her active involvement in the church, particularly as a familiar face taking tickets at the annual fish fry, a tradition she cherished deeply. 

As a Brownfield City Council member, Mary dedicated herself to improving her community, always striving to ensure that students and families had the resources and support they needed. Her commitment to education and community service left an indelible mark on the lives of many. 

Mary's passion for family was evident in the way she immersed herself in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Whether attending barbecue competitions with the family’s catering business or cheering from the sidelines at agricultural and sporting events, she brought boundless joy and encouragement, always ready to support her loved ones on their adventures.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Hisa Valdonado; sons, Samson Valdonado and Isaiah Valdonado; grandson, Calib Valdonado; mother, Conception Martinez; and nephew, Greyson Arguellez. She is survived by her son, Matthew Valdonado; daughter, Vanessa Valdonado; grandchildren, Mikah Valdonado, Samson Valdonado, Jaedon Perry, Jaylah Piedra, Jeremiah Hernandez, Mariah Gonzales, Markie Gonzales, Kourtnee Stell, Acire Perry; father, Florentino Martinez and wife Tomasa; sisters, Gloria Whitecotton and husband Bobby, Irene Arechiga and husband David; and a brother, Floyd Martinez.
