With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Maria Mondragon. She peacefully departed this life on August 31, 2025, in
Corpus Christi, TX, surrounded by family and close friends, at the remarkable age of 87.
Maria dedicated 28 loyal years of service to the City of Corpus Christi, working at the Corpus Christi International Airport as part of the aviation maintenance staff until her retirement.
Born as the third of four children to Jose and Paula Garcia in Kingsville, TX, Maria decided early on to master the art of homemaking. She cultivated valuable skills that prepared her for a home filled with beautiful children and a deep love for God.
Maria cherished spending time with family at gatherings. She was always ready to throw on her kitchen apron and cook family favorites like empanadas and Pollo en mole. She enjoyed sharing her recipes and teaching others how to cook them for generations to come. Maria always loved a good crowd to play Loteria bingo and, of course, enjoyed winning. In her early years of marriage, she relished attending lively dances with live music alongside her husband and close friends. She was always ready for a visit to the mall to buy a new outfit for any upcoming family event.
Maria will always be remembered for her love and devotion to family. After raising eight children of her own, she lovingly embraced the role of raising and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, just as any devoted grandmother would. She prayed constantly, as instructed by 1 Thessalonians 5:17, always caring for and supplicating for her children and all their needs. She stood firm in her beliefs and consistently reminded her family to value love and forgiveness. Maria set a beautiful example through her industriousness that led her to being a capable wife, mother, grandmother, sister, tia and friend. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Maria Mondragon is preceded in death by her husband Raul Antonio Mondragon, son Frank Mondragon, daughter Cynthia Mondragon, Great grandchildren Ryan Rosas and Miracle Faith Aguilar, sister Estella Mendiola, Brother Jose Garcia and her beloved sisters-in-law, Paula Garcia and Eva Garcia.
