Maria dos Anjos Moniz

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Dearness Home. Maria Moniz went home to be with her Lord and Saviour at the age of 93, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith and cherished memories. Maria was born in Portugal where she met her husband Manuel Primo (deceased 1970) and started a family. Maria and Manuel arrived in Canada to fulfill their dream of providing a better life for their family. Alas, Manuel was taken too soon, and Maria was left with the task of raising and providing for her very young children through her own extraordinary efforts. Maria was a strong, hard working, caring woman with a heart of gold. Maria was devoted to her religion and enjoyed travelling to experience the word of the Lord. She was the matriarch of our family and cherished mother of Armenda (deceased 1964), Filomena (Robin), Jose Jasinto (deceased 1955), Angela (John), Grace (Peter) and Tony. Adored grandmother to Jennifer(Mike), Christopher(Danielle), Johnathan, Adam, Andrea(David), Matthew(Laura), Sara, Natasha, Simone, Alexandra and loving great-grandmother to Nathan, Devin, Myla, Selia, Liam, Gabriella and Weston. The family would like to thank the staff at the Dearness Home (Forest Glen) for the wonderful care you provided our Mother. Family and friends will be received in the O'Neil Funeral Home, 350 William Street, London on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Cross Church, Hamilton at Elm St., on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment in St. Peter's Cemetery.
