"Maria Fabiola Palomino, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the age of 57.
She was the devoted wife of Jorge Palomino. Loving mother of Fabiola (Faby) Palomino, Cynthia (Cindy) Palomino, Gabriela (Gabby) Palomino, and Angelica (Angie) Palomino. Proud grandmother of Riley Murphy, and Aidan Murphy. Dear Daughter of Ignacio Alvarez Lira and Maria Felicitas Garcia Venegas. Dear sister of (Late) Miguel Angel Alvarez Garcia, (Late) Maria Del Carmen Alvarez Garcia, Jorge Alvarez Garcia, Martha Alvarez Garcia, Mario Alberto Alvarez Garcia, Veronica Alvarez Garcia, and Fernando Emanuel Alvarez Garcia. Sister-in law, godmother, cousin, aunt, and friend to many.
Maria married Jorge Palomino August 9, 1995, but spent 34 happy years together traveling, dancing, cooking, and inspiring others with their love before she passed away. She prioritized her family above everything else and dedicated herself to serving her community, especially those in Spanish speaking, low-income households. Maria had a passion for various forms of art, including crocheting, knitting, sewing, crafting, baking, and gardening. She enjoyed blasting Spanish music by all the greats, including many female powerhouse singers, while cleaning the house, making pancakes for the whole family, or prepping dinner with her husband for friends and family to have a carne asada on sunny weekends. She loved watching her novelas on the television while knitting sweaters for her grandkids, and chatting with her best friend of many years, Graciela Muñoz, when they weren't out and about shopping together.
Maria was a devoted volunteer at the afterschool DuPage County Area Project, or DuCAP, a Illinois not-for-profit organization in the city of Bensenville with community organizer and friend, Erendira Loza. She dedicated hours of her time and own money providing the best quality arts and crafts ideas to the children in the community so they would have a productive and safe space to go to afterschool while their parents were at work. She was the co-leader for Girl Scout Troop 43037 alongside close friend Julia Carillo. Together they lead a group of young girls to be the independent and confident young ladies they are today, who now hold 7 years' worth of wonderful memories.
Maria leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, creativity, and genuine kindness and will be deeply missed. She might have lost her battle to Malignant Peritoneal Mesothelioma Stage 4 Cancer, but her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends.
