Carol Reasor Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Carol Ann Reasor (née Montgomery), 88, passed away on September 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on October 23, 1936, in East St. Louis, Illinois, Carol was the beloved daughter of the late Hiram (Honey) and Miki Montgomery.

Throughout her life, Carol called many places home, including Elmhurst, Willowbrook, and Clarendon Hills, IL; Leesburg and Tavares, FL; Sterling Heights, MI; Cleveland Heights and Columbus, OH; and Indianapolis, IN. But no matter where she lived, she brought warmth, laughter, and friendship to those around her.

Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Robb Montgomery, and her daughter, Laura (Marc) Ugolini. She is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Jim Reasor, with whom she shared a love story that began in high school and endured a lifetime, and her brother, Roger Montgomery. She is also lovingly remembered by her children: Walt (Merri), Greg (Loretta), Curt (Megan), and Jen (Kevin) Letz; her 12 grandchildren: Pam (Adam) Brinkerhoff, Steve, Jeff, John (Johanna), Angela Ugolini, Kristina (Jake) Reed, Erin Fitzpatrick, Kevin Fitzpatrick, Lillian, Declan, Pat (Kendall) Letz, and Renée Letz; and four great-grandchildren-Josiah and Holly Brinkerhoff, Kimbrielle Fitzpatrick, and Hazel Letz.

Carol graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis and attended Purdue University, where she joined the Chi Omega sorority and was honored as Best Pledge. It was at Purdue that she reunited with Jim. She was crowned the White Rose Queen of Jim's Sigma Nu fraternity, where she was lovingly serenaded by the fraternity brothers. The two were married in July 1956 -on Friday the 13th, a date that proved to be their lifelong good luck charm.

A woman of many talents, Carol's quick typing skills served her well during her time as a secretary at McDonald's Corporation. But her greatest gift was her ability to connect with people. A true extrovert, she could strike up a conversation with anyone, and often turned strangers into friends.

Carol lived life with boundless energy, a deep appreciation for both adventure and connection, and a steadfast Christian faith that shaped how she treated others. She found joy in raising five children, volunteering her time to various causes, snowmobiling, boating, birdwatching, and camping-earning the title "Camping Mother of Five" in a local interview. She had a keen eye for treasures at garage sales and cherished time spent with family and friends. She also had a flair for baking, with her signature key lime pie always in demand. Having grown up with limited financial means, Carol developed a generous heart and was always quick to help those in need.

Her vibrant spirit and warm heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM, at Elmhurst Community Funeral Home – THE AHLGRIM CHAPEL, 567 S. Spring Road, Elmhurst, IL 60126.
