Maria "Ines" Perea of Port Jefferson Station went to be with our Lord Jesus at the of 70. Maria was born in Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic on 3 August 1952. Maria moved to Brooklyn, NY from the Dominican Republic in 1969. Maria and her husband Joe spent their lives raising 4 children and taking care of family. She was very well known for her cooking, her family gatherings, her hospitality and her talent as a seamstress. She moved to Port Jefferson Station in Long Island, NY in 2014 where she lived with her husband, daughter Maddie and Maddie's family.
Maria used her talents and gifts, in hospitality, at her work in the dietary department at Mary Manning Walsh in Manhattan where she brought joy and comfort to the residents she served.
At the end of a well fought battle with hepatocellular carcinoma, Maria passed away at Good Shepherd Hospice, surrounded by her husband, children and siblings.
She was preceded in death by her father Jose Peña, her brother Octavio Peña and her sister Clara Peña as well as 3 siblings that passed in infancy. Maria is survived by her mother Maria Peña, her husband Juan "Joe" Perea, her children Calvin and wife Jannette, Jessina and husband Darrin, Madelyn and husband Joel, and Juan and wife Tanya. She is also survived by her grandchildren Joshua, John, Sabrina, Nicholas, Juanito, Ethan, Kaylin, Scarlett, Hayley and Logan. She is additionally survived by her siblings, Francisco, Margara, Rafael, Jose, Miguelo, Belkis, Orlando, Helcida, Elias, Alberto, Eddy and Elvin as well as many beloved extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
