Maria De La Luz Reyes, 97, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed from life on June 4, 2024.
She was born in San Benito, Texas on August 13, 1926, to Jesus and Josefa Hernandez.
Maria married on October 27, 1944, to Leonardo Gonzalez Reyes and she was devoted to her husband and children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Reyes; daughter, Elisa Soto; parents, three brothers and one sister.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Antonio (Eva); daughters, Olivia, Oralia (Jose) and Angelita; fourteen grandchildren; thirty five great grandchildren and thirty eight great great grandchildren.
Maria was a Guadalupana of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church of Corpus Christi, Texas, enjoyed sewing and had a passion for working with her plants. She was very active in the Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with her neighbors and her dear friends in church.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 5:00PM – 9:00PM with the Holy Rosary to be Recited at 7:00PM at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. There will be a continued visitation on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 8:30 until departure to Our Lady of the Rosary. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 9:30AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church with the Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
