Maria Luisa "Marisa" Suarez Rua passed away among family in Savannah, Georgia on April 29, 2025 at the age of 83. Born August 7, 1941 in Gijón-Asturias, Spain, Marisa lived a life marked by love, enthusiasm for life, and fierce dedication to friends and family.
On August 7, 1973, she married Candido "Candi" Suarez, the love of her life. Together they built a home in Spain before relocating to Ormond Beach, Florida in 1979. After Candi's passing in 1995, Marisa moved to Bayshore Condominiums in Daytona Beach, where she continued to thrive both personally and professionally.
A gifted seamstress with an eye for detail and a passion for her work, Marisa owned and operated Marisa's Dressmaking and Alterations on North Oleander Ave. for 24 years until her retirement in 2009. Her skill and warmth made her a beloved figure in the Seabreeze Blvd community.
Marisa was a faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church of Daytona Beach, FL. Known for her friendly, outgoing nature and vibrant social life, she brought joy to those around her. In retirement, she embraced her love of travel, exploring new places with enthusiasm and grace.
Maria is lovingly remembered by daughters Cecilia (Craig) Clements, Marci Suarez; four grandchildren: Gregory Suarez, Elias Clements, Jonathan Clements, and Catherine Clements; and one great-grandchild, Nova Suarez.
She was preceded in death by parents Juan Bautista Rua and Maria Aurora Menendez; husband Candido B. Suarez, son Scott G. Suarez and sister Charo Alvarez Rua.
A memorial service for friends and family in Daytona Beach will be announced at a later date. Her final resting place is to be in Asturias, Spain alongside family.
May her memory bring comfort and peace to the many who knew and loved her.
