Maria Sanchez, 84, a longtime and beloved resident of 689 Myrtle Street in New Britain, Connecticut, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She has now joined her predeceased daughter, Margaret Nunez; her cherished grandson, Angel Alejandro; and her longtime partner Bienvenido “Pepo” Medina, with whom she shared many years of companionship and devotion. Though her passing brings deep sorrow, the family finds comfort knowing she is reunited with those she loved so dearly.
Maria is survived by her children Carmen Martinez, Antonio Nunez, Victor Nunez, Maria Nunez, and Felix Nunez; her beloved son-in-law Jorge Martinez, Carmen Martinez’s husband; her beloved son-in-law Efrain Lozada, Maria Nunez’s spouse; her beloved son-in-law Dimas Rivera, Margaret Nunez’s husband; her beloved daughter-in-law Elydia Carr Nunez, Felix Nunez’s wife; seven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. To her family and to countless others, she was more than a mother or grandmother—she was Wela, a guiding light whose kindness touched every life she entered.
Known for giving her all to everyone around her, Maria had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, loved, and supported. To know her was truly to love her. Her passing is a profound tragedy for all who were blessed to have her in their lives, but we take solace in knowing she is now at peace and surrounded by eternal love.
Her love, her spirit, and her unforgettable warmth will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
