It is with heavy hearts that the family of Maria Elva Soliz, 32, announce her unexpected tragic passing following an automobile accident in Beeville, Texas on June 30, 2025. Maria was a beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend.
Maria was born August 13, 1992, in Corpus Christi to Rosa Linda Zarate and Santiago Solis Jr. She was a 2010 graduate of A.C. Jones High School and presently enrolled in nursing school, a dream she was eager to pursue in the fall semester. Her compassion and commitment to care for others led her to a career at Hacienda Oaks Nursing Home in Beeville and Bluebonnet Nursing & Rehab in Karnes City where she was employed as a certified nursing assistant and medication aide. There, she greeted her patients and coworkers with a kind heart and warm smile.
Maria carried a strong sense of purpose throughout her life, driven by her Catholic faith and an enduring love for her children. She loved cooking for them and spending time with them as well as with family and friends. She also enjoyed working out and staying fit.
Maria was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Conrado Zarate Jr.; her paternal grandparents, Maria Elva Solis and Santiago Solis Sr.; and two aunts, Angelita Guillen and Mary Jane Pradt.
Left behind to cherish memories of their precious daughter are her loving parents, Rosa Zarate and Santiago Solis Jr. She was a proud and loving mother to Vallerie Mata, Zerenity Mata, Marcos Mata and Serafin Caballero. Her bonds with her family extended to her brothers, Santiago Soliz III, Mauricio Solis and Enrique Solis, as well as her maternal grandmother, Cristina Zarate. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends who will miss her dearly.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Angelus Funeral Home in Beeville, with a Rosary to be recited at 3 o’clock. The funeral service will follow at 3:30 p.m. with Deacon Roger Rosenbaum officiating. She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
